Before I begin, let me make one thing clear: I didn't vote for Dear Leader and I feel more vindicated with every new day. I typically don't delve too deeply into politics (it takes a while to wash it off my shoes), but sometimes I can't resist the opportunities that are presented.
Firstly: When I think of a political movement choosing a famous person to represent their cause, I think of someone with some degree of respectability. It doesn't matter what political party he may support, if Morgan Freeman ever does a political add I will probably stop channel surfing every time to watch it. See what I mean? Depth, gravity, a seemingly wise sense of wisdom*. That being said, I get the feeling that the Democrat party has landed a major fail on this one. If you're serious about this entire "______ can't vote for the ______ party, but if he could he would and you should too.", then be willing to extend that concept out even further: "John Lennon can't vote for candidate X. Because he's dead. And he was British. But if he were alive and a US citizen, he would vote for candidate X. Do the right thing. Vote for who John couldn't."
Lastly: I was aware that the current administration was in the process of refocusing the military/political front against terrorists, but not to this degree. Is this the beginning of the War on Worldwide Teenage Angst? The War on Drunk E-mails? As a taxpayer, do I really want someone wasting their time working on finding people who have e-mailed the president to voice their dissatisfaction with his administration, alerting their local police force, and then perma-banning them from visiting the US? I wonder if the next step identifying all of those random foreign protestors in all the Reuters pictures (the ones burning flags and shouting things like "Death to America", etc.) and taking away their US visiting privileges...
*If years ago someone had said "What if I told you that I could make you watch a two hour documentary on arctic penguins?" I would have told them that I had better ways to waste my time. "What if Morgan Freeman narrates it?" Then my response would have been "I will give you my first born for the chance." See the difference?
